The purpose of the Council is to promote a philosophy of independent living defined as follows: “ Independent Living is the right of all people to make informed choices, to have personal control over their own lives, and to participate to the fullest extent possible in the everyday activities of work, school, home, family, and community,” in order to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence, and productivity of individuals with disabilities, and for independent living to become a reality for all people in Michigan.

Statements of financial position of Michigan Statewide Independent Living Corporation (a nonprofit organization) as of September 30, 2013 and 2012 and the related statements of activities and cash flows for the years then ended. A review includes primarily applying analytical procedures to management’s financial data and making inquiries of Organization management. A review is substantially less in scope than an audit, the objective of which is the expression of an opinion regarding the financial statements as a whole.
